Sept. 13 @ 3 p.m. – All Horse Parade

The All Horse Parade is one of Delaware’s most charming traditions, and it’s the perfect off‑campus outing for OWU students looking to connect with the local community. On Sunday, Sept 13, at 3 p.m., the streets of downtown Delaware come alive with horses, ponies, wagons, carriages, cowgirls, and marching bands, creating a lively and colorful procession that celebrates the start of the Delaware County Fair.

From campus, it’s an easy walk down Sandusky Street, where the parade passes directly through the heart of downtown before looping back toward the fairgrounds. The full route is about three miles long, offering plenty of great viewing spots for students to gather with friends, grab a drink or snack from local shops, and enjoy the energy of the crowd. Admission is free, so all you need to bring is your curiosity and maybe a lawn chair if you want a comfortable seat.

Whether you’re new to OWU or a returning student, the parade is a fun way to experience Delaware’s community spirit and take a break from campus life while still staying close to home.
