OWU’s Model UN Chapter is participating in the U.S. National Human Rights Conference!

Youth for Human Rights International is holding the U.S. National Human Rights Conference on April 11-13, 2019, in the nation’s capital, Washington, DC. The theme of this year’s conference is “Working to Stop Human Trafficking in the Americas.”

This three-day event will bring together youth from across the United States to focus on key human rights issues related to human trafficking that plague our country. The conference will include visits to Capitol Hill, giving youth the opportunity to meet and discuss important human rights issues with their government representatives. They will also get a chance to meet other Congressional representatives, Senators and dignitaries. The event will feature the presentation of the President’s Volunteer Service Awards to inspiring human rights activists for their volunteer work to protect human rights in their communities.

The conference will culminate with a live concert at the Jefferson Memorial where artists will come together to bring greater public awareness to human rights education.
