Sylvia Mendez School Desegregation in California Talk

Please join us TODAY from 6:00-7:00 pm, in Ham-Wil Benes rooms to hear from the Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, Sylvia Mendez.

Sylvia, civil rights activist of Mexican-Puerto Rican heritage, will share her experience with the Mendez v. Westminster case. The 1947 victory desegregated public schools in California and became an example for broader decisions, such as the Brown V. Board of Education.
