News Writing and Editing Job in University Communications

The Office of University Communications is seeking a writer and editor. The intern will work as an “assistant media relations director,” helping to share the OWU story with internal and external audiences. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable writing and editing skills, with an interest in public relations and/or journalism. The intern will conduct interviews, write news articles, and draft press releases to promote public events. An interest in taking photos/shooting videos is a plus, but not required.

The student will obtain marketable experience in writing publication-ready news articles and press releases as well as enhanced skills in identifying news, preparing for and conducting interviews, researching/verifying facts for publication, proofreading, and related skills. (All students who apply must supply 3-5 writing samples – links to online articles are acceptable – as part of their application packets.) See our posting in the Student Job Postings online!
