The Department of Journalism and Communication is offering a Special Topics course in Spring 2027 on live streaming and digital content creation. See course description below. Reach out to Dr. Kennard if you have questions! Students who have already taken COMM 311 are eligible to take this course.
COMM 311: Live Stream and Digital Content examines the creative, technical, and strategic practices that shape contemporary live streaming and digital content production. Grounded in principles of digital media, audience engagement, and content marketing, the course explores how creators, organizations, and brands develop platform-specific content and cultivate online communities. Students will analyze audience behavior and performance data; design social media and promotional campaigns; and produce video content for a range of digital formats and platforms. Designed for aspiring content creators and digital media professionals, the course emphasizes both creative expression and practical decision-making in an evolving online media environment. Through hands-on production work, students will complete a substantial final project, such as a live-streamed event or scripted digital media piece, that demonstrates their ability to plan, produce, promote, and assess digital content.
