Campus Operations Notification:
What: The Bradford Milligan Parking Lot will close at 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, and remain closed during the installation of solar canopies.
Why: The closure allows crews to move large equipment safely while installing 15-foot pillars, pouring concrete to cement them in place, and using lift equipment to add the canopy arms and solar panels needed to produce green energy.
Accessibility: The ADA spaces on the north side of the Bradford Milligan lot will remain accessible throughout the work.
What do I need to do? Move your vehicle from the Bradford Milligan lot before 11 p.m. Saturday to avoid having it removed.
Where can I park? In addition to The 1842 and Jay Martin Soccer Complex lots, you are now able to park in a limited number of spaces at the Delaware Shopping Center, adjacent to OWU on South Sandusky Street. Please see this map for the 39 permitted spaces in the southwest section of the shopping center lot. (The spaces you are permitted to use for longer-term parking encompass only the 5 rows shown on the map.)
What else should I know? To ensure OWU’s temporary parking doesn’t negatively affect center shoppers and merchants, you may not park in any other spots unless you are actively shopping or dining at the center. Cars parked outside the marked zone are subject to tow. Ohio Wesleyan is grateful to the center owner for allowing the university to utilize these spaces.
When will the Bradford Milligan lot reopen? Our partners are re-evaluating the installation timeline based on the expanded lot access. We will share updates when available, including at www.owu.edu/solarparking.
Why is OWU doing this? When the solar/energy efficiency project is complete, it will reduce OWU’s greenhouse gas emissions by 6,900 tons per year and produce 82% of the university’s current electricity needs.
