Course Description:
WLC 310 examines how Puerto Rican artist and icon Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as Bad Bunny, has brought visibility to Puerto Rico’s culture, history, and political situation globally. His music and artistic style will be studied within a cultural context and in dialogue with literary texts. Topics to be discussed include cultural identity, migration, gentrification, linguistic negotiation between Spanish and English, globalization, and the erasure/displacement of local culture. The course will be taught in English.
