Sept. 20-21 – Field Hockey Program Dedicates Weekend to ‘Morgan’s Message,’ Student-Athlete Mental Health

The Ohio Wesleyan Field Hockey program is proud to announce that we will be dedicating the weekend of Sept. 20-21 to honor Morgan’s Message, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating the stigma surrounding mental health in the student-athlete community.

Morgan’s Message was founded in memory of Morgan Rodgers, a Duke lacrosse player who tragically died by suicide in 2019 after silently struggling with her mental health. Her story has inspired a movement to create a safe space for student-athletes to share their struggles and to remind all of us that no one should ever have to battle mental health challenges alone.

As part of this dedication:

  • Saturday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. – The OWU Field Hockey team will host a raffle during the men’s football game against Wittenberg. All proceeds will go directly to support Morgan’s Message and its mission.
  • Sunday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. – The OWU Field Hockey team will take its shot at mental health awareness as we face Mary Washington at Selby Stadium.

This special weekend will be focused on raising awareness of mental health struggles faced by athletes and ensuring that Morgan’s story continues to make a difference. We hope you will join us in standing together for this important cause and supporting Morgan’s Message.
