Sept. 24 @ 4:30 p.m. – ‘The Case for Foreign Aid,’ OWU’s 2025 Lyman Lecture, in Slocum Hall

The Politics and Government Department and International Studies Program are excited to invite you to the 2025 Corinne Lyman Lecture on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025, at 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Milligan Room of Slocum Hall. The lecture will feature Claire Everhart, a 2010 OWU alumna, who will present “The Case for Foreign Aid.” This lecture is free and open to the public.

Everhart is a political partner with the Truman National Security Project, which works to “unite bold thinkers as a community of change, solving challenges and building a strong, safe future.”

She also is Managing Director of Partnerships with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DCF), a government agency focused on leveraging the private sector overseas to finance development projects. In that role and a previous role with USAID, she completed details with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the House of Representatives.

Before joining the DFC, Claire served in a similar role with USAID’s Development Credit Authority, where she liaised with financial institutions across Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa to increase access to finance through mobilizing local private capital. She received a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in International Public Policy from University College London and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in International Studies and Spanish from Ohio Wesleyan University.
