HONS 201.1 is a brand-new honors seminar offered this fall that explores the question, “Are We Alone?” For generations, humanity has wondered whether there is life elsewhere in the cosmos, and in this course we will learn about how scientists across disciplines are tackling this question while discovering how we may be closer to finding an answer than we ever have been before.
Along the way, we will also tackle the philosophical, ethical, and societal dilemmas that we’ll face on this journey such as: “What is life?”, “Should we announce our presence in the cosmos?”, and “Is humanity ready to learn if we truly are alone?” HONS 201.1 is open to Freshman and Sophomore students in the OWU Honors Program. The class will meet on Tuesday & Thursday from 2 p.m.-3:15 p.m. in SCSC 143 during the fall 2024 semester.
