The OWU Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Deborah Barrett Price, will feature works by French composers Saint-Saens and Debussy, along with a recently rediscovered symphony by Michael Haydn, Joseph Haydn’s younger brother.
OWU senior Jonathan Munroe will be featured on violin performing Saint-Saens famous Rondo and Capriccioso, and community member Irina Harutuynan will be featured with the 20+ member orchestra performing Danse Sacrée from Debussy’s Two Dances for Harp and String Orchestra. The concert will conclude with Michael Haydn’s Symphony in D Major, MH 420. The Symphony is a two-movement work filled with a similar joy and sense of humor to that of his older brother Joseph Haydn, often referred to as “Papa Haydn,” father of the string quartet.
