Dr. Valerie Chepp is Associate Staff in the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences and the lead Qualitative Methodologist in the Healthcare Delivery & Implementation Science Center at Cleveland Clinic. She will talk with students about her career trajectory in various research agencies, academia, and now Cleveland Clinic. Pizza will be provided.

Dr. Valerie Chepp’s research interests relate to qualitative research methods and the influence of sociomedical forces on healthcare delivery and health outcomes. Her research explores social systems of inequality, with specific expertise in how different dimensions of social inequality intersect to result in unequal outcomes. From a healthcare delivery and implementation research perspective, she is interested in understanding the experiences of care among vulnerable populations and their providers, and how to advance equitable systems of care delivery. Dr. Chepp has led multiple social scientific research studies using a diverse array of qualitative methods, including ethnographic participant observation, in-depth interviewing, cognitive interviewing, and various approaches to textual analysis. As an experienced qualitative methodologist, she assists other investigators with the qualitative components of their research.
