Sept. 9 – Bishop Backers Fall Community Day, Free Football Tailgate!

The Bishop Backers invite you to its Sept. 9 Fall Community Day celebration. The day will kick off at 11 a.m. with a free tailgate featuring OWU Public Safety officers and Delaware police officers and firefighters grilling hamburgers and hotdogs outside Selby Stadium. (Gluten-free and vegetarian options will be available.)

OWU will set up cornhole games for guests to enjoy, and both the Safety Pup and Battling Bishop mascots are scheduled to be on hand for the festivities, too.

The Battling Bishops will take on the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Falcons at noon in OWU’s first home game of the 2023-2024 season.

Admission is free, but the event will help raise funds to aid the Unity Community Center.

Admission is free, but the event will raise funds through raffles to support the Unity Community Center, 50A Ross St., Delaware. The center is dedicated to “fostering unity in the community through service, hands-on support, social action, and education.”

Fundraisers will include a 50/50 raffle and prize drawings for a TV/sound system and other prizes. Tickets will be $1 each, six for $5, or 15 for $10. The raffles are open to those 18 and older, and the winners, who must be present, will be announced at the start of the football game’s fourth quarter. Downtown Delaware’s Ciao Cafe, Mystic Moon Beauty & Gifts, and Opa Grill and Tavern are providing financial support for the community tailgate.

We hope you can join us!
