This Fall! Social Justice in Education Book Club

Hi everyone! I’m Ellie Nichols, a senior studying middle childhood education and social justice. Culturally responsive teaching is something that I am passionate about and want to discuss with others. I am spreading the word about my mentored activism project that will take place this fall. One component of the project is a social justice book club or roundtable that will meet bimonthly to discuss different topics, readings, and experiences we have as future educators or just people interested in social justice.

Topics I want to cover include:

  • Culturally relevant and sustaining pedagogies.
  • Revisionist history.

  • Book banning/culture wars happening in our schools.

  • What a social justice lesson/classroom looks like.

I want to promote the book club and gauge student interest. Fill out this form below if you would like to receive more information about joining the project. Thank you!
