Improvements to Campus Dispatch

Ohio Wesleyan has some great news from our partners at Campus Dispatch, who handle dispatching services for the Department of Public Safety.

  1. Campus Dispatch has grown and hired multiple new dispatchers, all of whom are both English and Spanish speakers. Effective immediately, you can request a Spanish-speaking dispatcher if desired.
  2. The call tree (e.g. “press 1 for…”) is getting phased out. Campus Dispatch is integrating voice recognition AI software so you’ll be able to speak your request and move through their system quicker. Always call 9-1-1 in an emergency, but if you accidentally call our non-emergency line of 740-368-2222, we have been assured the voice software will recognize phrases for an emergency and immediately connect you with the dispatcher, who will transfer you to our local 9-1-1 call center.

A quick reminder that the automated system with Campus Dispatch is not a voicemail. Don’t hang up! Follow the phone tree prompts, or the voice recognition software when it rolls out, to get your request processed.
