TONIGHT @ 7:30 p.m. – “After Appomattox” R.W. Smith Civil War History Lecture

TONIGHT! We are pleased to welcome Caroline Janney, Ph.D. to campus tonight as our guest speaker for the Richard W. Smith Lecture in Civil War History at 7:30 pm in Benes A-B (Hamilton-Williams Campus Center). Janney, winner of the 2022 Gilder-Lehrman Lincoln Prize, will share “An End or Beginning: Lee’s Army after Appomattox.” Appomattox has long served to mark the end of the American Civil War, but, in reality, it has “a far more contentious, uncertain, ambiguous, and lengthy ending,” says Janney, the John L. Nau III Professor of the American Civil War at the University of Virginia. For more information about the lecture:  https://www.owu.edu/news-media/details/after-appomattox/ Hope to see you there!
