At 9:50 a.m. today, March 23, Delaware County will participate in a statewide tornado drill. Expect to hear outdoor warning sirens at this time.
With spring’s potentially unstable weather, please note the outdoor siren protocol: During a tornado warning, the sirens operate on a 3-minutes-on, 10-minutes-off cycle for the duration of the warning. No all-clear message is issued via the sirens, so make sure you have a way to receive emergency communications while you shelter. Please note the sirens are not intended to be heard everywhere by those indoors.
If you need to take shelter, the safest place to be is in a basement or windowless interior room on the lowest level of a building.
