We are sad to share that former OWU instructor and assistant professor LaVern John Rippley died Jan. 6 in Rochester, Minnesota. He was 86.
During his long career, he studied with the support of a Fulbright Fellowship 1963-1964 at the University in Munich, Germany, returning to Columbus for his Ph.D. In fall 1964, he joined Ohio Wesleyan as an instructor of German. He then became an assistant professor and served in that role during the 1966-1967 academic year. In 1967, LaVern joined St. Olaf College, where he remained for 50 years.
