OWU alumnus Lou Simpson passed away Jan. 8 in Chicago. His contributions to Ohio Wesleyan include a $2 million gift in 2013 to create The Louis A. Simpson ’58 Endowed Faculty Director of The Woltemade Center for Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship and an $8 million lead gift in 2014, given with wife Kimberly K. Querrey, to build the Simpson Querrey Fitness Center. Simpson was 85.
As an OWU student, Simpson majored in economics and accounting. The University awarded him an honorary degree – Doctorate of Laws – in 2013 in recognition of his significant achievements in the field of economics. Those achievements included managing the portfolio for GEICO, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., for more than 30 years before founding his own investment-advisory firm, SQ Advisors LLC.
Please join us in extending our deepest sympathies to Kimberly and all who knew and loved Lou. A Bloomberg article about his passing is available online here.
