Public Safety to Pilot New Safe Ride Program

The Department of Public Safety is excited to announce a new Safe Ride program here at Ohio Wesleyan University!

Safe Ride will provide a University-marked van that circulates a set route from 7 pm to 2 am seven days a week (staff permitting). The route will visit remote parking lots, residential buildings, and academic buildings on OWU property. The vehicle will be staffed by two students at all times.

This program is being introduced on a trial basis to determine its value to the OWU community. We’ll be watching for feedback, evaluating Safe Ride’s popularity, and checking to make sure the van is stopping at the right destinations.

The service start date and a map of pickup and drop-off circulator locations will be announced once we have enough student drivers to begin operating. If you wish to help keep campus safe, have a valid driver’s license, and enjoy working nights, check out our job posting on Handshake. (Select On-Campus as a filter and then find the posting called Safe Ride Driver.)

We look forward to serving you!
