History Department – Year-End Announcements & Award Recipients!

The History Department offers our heartfelt congratulations to our graduating seniors. We have several important year-end announcements to share.

Congratulations to the 2020-21 History Award winners!

1) The Freshman History Prize is awarded to Aeden Tharpe.

2) The History Prize (for Sophomore/Junior work) is awarded to two papers this year: Bella Hintzman for “Zhuangzi: Harmony through Liberation” for Hist 324C and Spencer Queen for “On the Outside Looking in: Civil Rights and Black Power at Ohio Wesleyan University” for Hist 250.

3) The Anna H. Rusoff Memorial History Award this year goes to Grace Burich for her Hist 494 paper, “Doomed to Repeat History: Why John Collier’s Indian Reorganization Act of 1934 Failed.”

4) Finally, the 2021 Hastings-Eells Prize, awarded to the graduating senior with the highest overall GPA and highest history GPA, goes to Emma Rose Neeper.

We congratulate all of these students for their excellent work and their commitment to historical thinking and scholarship.

We are also delighted to announce the 2020 and 2021 Inductees into OWU’s chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honors society.
