Information Services is seeking a student worker for the summer. The position provides telephone, email, webchat, and walk-in support, as well as keeps online support resources up-to-date, for up to 35 hours per week, with a discount on housing.
Duties include:
Technical Assistance and Support
* Answer Help Desk phone calls and webchat requests
* Answer email questions and requests for assistance that come in as TOPdesk tickets
* Assist with connecting devices to our campus networks
* Provide technical support to the campus community, utilizing resources provided
* Monitor email and webchat through TOPdesk and LibraryH3lp
* Check the status of online resources as needed
* Accurately escalate any unresolved problems to Information Services staff, according to documentation
* Keep the front lobby area clean and in acceptable user condition
* Always enter the user’s name and contact info, along with the nature of their call
* Check voicemails that come in as Help Desk tickets
* Keep Information Services staff up to date of any concerns
Keeping Documentation Up-to-Date
* Contribute knowledge to the Oh-Wooo Help Desk website (helpdesk.owu.edu) and BishopWorks Knowledge Base
* Keep an editorial eye on any pages used and update as needed
* Share helpful tips & tricks found with the team and staff
If that’s overwhelming, don’t fret–we provide hands-on training on the technical stuff.
Desirable Skills
* Computer knowledge & troubleshooting (the more the better)
* Customer service and professionalism (more important than technical know-how)
* Good communication, both written and oral
* Initiative and ability to work independently
