Mindfulness Moment is a free, drop-in, no-registration-necessary group offering various mindfulness/meditation exercises to bring awareness and balance to body and mind.
This is a virtual space that meets for an hour each week on Wednesdays at noon. Please bring yourself, and your lunch if you like, to learn and practice practical mindfulness techniques.
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Mindfulness Moment is focusing on grounding during the month. Grounding is a way to bring yourself back to the present moment using objects or senses in your environment. It can help decrease stress, anxiety, or trauma symptoms, or help when you are feeling overwhelmed. It can also help you check back in when your mind is drifting away, which may bring more awareness of whatever emotions you are experiencing in that moment.
We have created FREE grounding kits to go along with each week’s meditations. Visit the Student Involvement Office on the first floor of Hamilton-Williams Campus Center to pick up your kit. The kits include stress balls, candy, and more! Each week we will focus on a different sense.
- Wednesday April 7 Taste
- Wednesday April 14 Touch
- Wednesday April 21 Sight
- Wednesday April 28 Smell
Even if you cannot join live, feel free to pick up a kit and practice the meditations on your own.
Mindfulness Moment does not provide counseling or psychotherapy; it is a space to learn and practice mindfulness skills.
