Known for his groundbreaking work on photographing locomotion and movement. Eadweard Muybridge was one of the first photographers to concentrate on motion studies. He is best known for his Animal Locomotion and Human Locomotion series and for his work in early motion pictures. He invented a device that he called a zoopraxiscope, which was an early form of a film projector that used painted glass disks instead of flexible film.
