Anne Noggle

1922-2005

American (United States)

Ann Noggle documented women’s roles and experiences as they age, most notably her own. Noggel was a pilot (1943-44) and captain (1953-59) in the US Airforce prior to returning to school to become a photographer. Her first solo exhibit was mounted when she was 48. She went on to serve as a curator, co-developing the flagship exhibit Women of Photography: An Art Historical Survey in 1975. Her photography and curatorial work coincided with the second-wave feminist movement, which demanded more nuanced representations of, and roles for, women in American society.
