This documentary simply amazed me. In the first time I came to America, I saw a lot of wide corn farms while we were driving across the middle America. However I did not found a lot of corn in American diet. I was wondering that where does corn go. The “King Corn” totally answers my question.
The first truth that surprised me is the way that corn be used. I think the starch and sweetener are conceivable. But I never thought the main consumption of corn in America is living stock. And I am surprised that the corn feeding animals are not only unhealthy for human body, but also inhuman to animals.
There is a scene that they sit together trying to eat a fresh raw corn cob, however the corn is so unsavory that they throw it back into the field. I never realized American fresh corn can not be ate in raw. It be treated more like a industrial resource, not a food. The most of food that link to corn is considered unhealthy in America. However in Asia, corn usually is linked to healthy food.
