Jacobsen Publishing Company, Inc. (New York, US)
Series dates: 1926-1931
Size: 5″ x 7.75″

A series of at least 30 titles of largely forgettable fiction including adventure and mystery novels from Jacobsen Publishing Company of New York. Jacobsen may have been located in Chicago in the early part of the 20th century and published books on tanning and other industries. They published the majority of their New York titles in the late 1920s through 1931. They seem to have gone out of business not much later. In 1932, possibly as a liquidation, an offer is being made to include 27 free books if a bookseller pays $1.17 for a display rack.

This 1930 edition of Morrison’s Red Poppies is wrapped in a jacket specific to the title. The series name is indicated on the jacket flap along with a summary of the book.

The back of the jacket includes what is probably a nearly comprehensive list of titles published in the series.

Bindings are cloth, cheap, with red printed decorations.

The title page sort of indicates the series name, under the publisher’s name. Alas, without a more clear statement that this book is part of a series the series name would not be entered in library bibliographic databases.
