Series dates: 1950-1969
Size: 4.5″ x 6.5″

A series of small-sized books of short works published from about 1950 until at least 1969. A few titles have earlier dates (in the teens, twenties) but no mention of the series is found in the book literature before about 1950. This may be a confusion over copyright vs. printing date, or there may have been an earlier version of the series in the teens and twenties.

Jackets are unique to each title. This copy of Benjamin Franklin’s Sayings of Poor Richard has a copyright date of 1960, which is probably about right for the book itself. An illustration of Franklin and the title and author are imposed over a repeating pattern of dots on a bronze background. The series name is at the bottom of the front of the jacket. The front jacket flap is in two colors, with the price ($1) and a summary of the book.

The description of the book continues from the front jacket flap, and also includes a brief biography of Franklin. The rear of the jacket advertises and lists other titles in the series: 11 titles are indicated, each with a very brief description.

The book is bound in boards with a printed cover repeating the design and typography on the jacket.

There is no half-title page. The title page is below:
