De Cock was a notable photographer whose excellent printing skills and strong eye produced images of beauty and intensity. She served as the photographic assistant to Ansel Adams from 1963-1972, developing prints and helping to take photographs. De Cock traveled the United States on her time off, documenting her experiences and ultimately starting her own photography career. She won a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1972 and released a monograph in 1973 Lilliane De Cock: Photographs, for which Adams wrote the introduction.
