of water into another didn\u2019t disturb<\/strong><\/h6>\n
you the way we think, that you emerged<\/strong><\/h6>\n
quickly, swam even, by instinct, from one<\/strong><\/h6>\n
bloody bowl into another, that the only thing<\/strong><\/h6>\n
you noticed was the change of temperature \u2014<\/strong><\/h6>\n
raging red heat to clear chemical cold. Somehow,<\/strong><\/h6>\n
you survived, kept your head up<\/strong><\/h6>\n
where your mother had perched you<\/strong><\/h6>\n
on top of the toilet seat, somehow knowing<\/strong><\/h6>\n
not to let yourself submerge.<\/strong><\/h6>\n
Baby John Doe they called you, placed<\/strong><\/h6>\n
you, once the janitor blew life<\/strong><\/h6>\n
back into your lungs, in a hospital incubator,<\/strong><\/h6>\n
tubes feeding nutrients through your nose<\/strong><\/h6>\n
to sustain you. Maybe you\u2019ll never know how<\/strong><\/h6>\n
all this started. You\u2019ll never<\/strong><\/h6>\n
question how you entered this world:<\/strong><\/h6>\n
your mother, a K-Mart customer service<\/strong><\/h6>\n
rep, your father, once unknown, now coming<\/strong><\/h6>\n
forward to give you a name: Water Bearer,<\/strong><\/h6>\n
Aquarius, and you will rise like a tidal wave<\/strong><\/h6>\n
onto the earth: first, subsiding<\/strong><\/h6>\n
and receding, the undercurrent pulling<\/strong><\/h6>\n
