When\u00a0Mike Nicholson\u00a0’00 reflects on his Ohio Wesleyan University days, campus rhythms still beat strong in his memory. As a student, he founded a bucket drum troupe, played timpani in the orchestra, and served as House Moderator for the Butler A. Jones House of Black Culture. Now, 25 years later, he’s volunteering for his class reunion for the first time.<\/p>\n
“Volunteering felt like the right decision,”\u00a0Nicholson\u00a0shares. “A former classmate encouraged me to get involved, and it reminded me how much OWU has given me\u2014not just education but also relationships, leadership opportunities, and unforgettable experiences that shaped who I am.”<\/p>\n
This decision is particularly meaningful, as his son is now a student at OWU and made the Dean’s List in his first semester. This full-circle moment has deepened\u00a0Nicholson’s connection to his alma mater.<\/p>\n
At OWU,\u00a0Nicholson\u00a0built community as a Residential Assistant, choreographed for Orchesis, starred in theater productions, and served as treasurer for multiple student organizations. He also organized cultural programs, including a memorable History of Jazz event.<\/p>\n
Now on the Class of 2000’s 25th reunion committee,\u00a0Nicholson\u00a0is helping plan Reunion Weekend for May 16-18, 2025. “This reunion blends nostalgia with something fresh and meaningful,” he says. “I want people to experience something unique while sharing stories that made OWU special.”<\/p>\n
