I joke with her, \u201cyou must be the most hydrated person in America.\u201d We all know that the science largely suggests drink water! And lots of it!<\/p>\n<p>I have great news\u2013your child is getting WaTTER daily at Ohio Wesleyan. Wait, did the Provost just misspell water? I argue that a liberal arts education is like drinking 8 glasses of water a day. At Ohio Wesleyan, you learn to:<\/p>\n<p><b>W<\/b>rite<\/p>\n<p><b>A<\/b>nd<\/p>\n<p><b>T<\/b>hink<\/p>\n<p><b>T<\/b>alk<\/p>\n<p><b>E<\/b>motional Intelligence (have and exhibit it)<\/p>\n<p><b>R<\/b>ead and\/or reflect<\/p>\n<p>These are skills needed for life and they also happen to be skills we know employers want. In this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourtango.com\/self\/ceo-reveals-why-liberal-arts-degrees-best-degrees\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.yourtango.com\/self\/ceo-reveals-why-liberal-arts-degrees-best-degrees&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1731007695916000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3n36ASswVEfjOZHhjHJSqj\">recent article<\/a>, a CEO reveals why liberal arts degrees are actually the best degrees. Why? They allow you to be the most versatile in a volatile world where AI and the changing nature of work are rapidly shifting what jobs may look like in the future. This piece suggests that contrary to popular opinion, \u201cA liberal arts degree is the most pragmatic.\u201d The American Association of Colleges and Universities has long reported what\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidehighered.com\/news\/2021\/04\/06\/aacu-survey-finds-employers-want-candidates-liberal-arts-skills-cite-preparedness\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.insidehighered.com\/news\/2021\/04\/06\/aacu-survey-finds-employers-want-candidates-liberal-arts-skills-cite-preparedness&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1731007695916000&amp;usg=AOvVaw15_gM0t5L0IY_C6hFljUHs\">skills and attributes<\/a>\u00a0employers most need and the list will not surprise you\u2013it\u2019s a combination of critical thinking and communication skills along with the emotional intelligence to work in teams, to have drive, to be empathic. I use this metaphor\u00a0 of \u201cWaTTER\u201d with students often because it\u2019s an easy and memorable way to translate the value of their liberal arts degree.
