What is the OWU Connection?

THINK BIG | DO GOOD | GO GLOBAL | GET REAL

The OWU Connection is Ohio Wesleyan’s signature program of experiential learning embedded in a vibrant liberal arts curriculum. The spirit of the Connection is to encourage students to apply what they have learned in the classroom in creative and scholarly projects, the workplace, and the local and global community. Guided by their faculty mentors, students realize the full potential of their studies when they integrate foundational knowledge developed within and among academic disciplines into meaningful experiences. Through The OWU Connection students can research a scholarly question, design a creative project, or investigate a societal problem. They can also explore different cultures and environments from local to international contexts and engage in leadership and service to others. This is liberal arts for a new day. Student Success Story:

“As a Health and Human Kinetics major and a Nutrition Minor, the OWU Connection has allowed me to expand my knowledge outside of the classroom and obtain real-world experience. Through the “Do Good” section of the OWU Connection, I was able to volunteer for a nonprofit organization called Cooking Matters in the Fall of 2022. Through Cooking Matters, I was able to enhance my education, build my resume, and also apply skills I have learned in the classroom to help teach a cooking class. While giving back to the Delaware community, I gained invaluable experience in the world of nutrition and nonprofit organizations. The OWU Connection has helped to flourish my relationships with community members, faculty, and various organizations outside of Delaware. I cherished my time as a volunteer for Cooking Matters and I am looking forward to volunteering again in the fall.

All students at Ohio Wesleyan have access to countless opportunities, experiences, and ways to build their skills and education at their fingertips- it’s one of the things I love most about being a student at OWU. There is something for everyone to experience- whether that be here in Delaware or halfway across the world. I am incredibly grateful for the OWU Connection and all of the various opportunities and experiences that I have had through it. ” – Amara Carlson ’25
