Spring 2025 Textbook Information – First Day Complete

Ohio Wesleyan University partners with Barnes & Noble College to operate the Campus Bookstore.  A signature program of Barnes & Noble College, “First-Day Complete“, is a course materials fulfillment program that ensures students have their required course materials on the first day of class. The program provides any and all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes, and digital textbook versions to eligible students for a flat rental fee of $275/semester. Students should have received a personalized email from Barnes & Noble College on 12/11 that listed all of their Spring courses that have required textbooks/materials. Please note:

  • If a particular course does not require materials, it will not be listed (This does not mean that one isn’t registered for a course.  If you have registration questions, please contact the Registrar’s Office).
  • If none of the student’s Spring courses require materials, they would not have received an email, and should opt-out of the program to avoid an unnecessary charge.
Then, on 12/16, students should have received another email from Barnes & Noble College (if they got one on 12/11) asking them to select a delivery preference for their personalized bundle of books.
Action is required to confirm participation in the program!  Barnes & Noble assumes each student will participate in the program, but they don’t assemble your book bundle until confirmation is given by the student by acting upon the 12/16 email.
Next Steps:
1)  If you still need your textbooks and have not communicated with Barnes & Noble College, check your OWU Inbox (and Spam Folder) for emails from Barnes & Noble College on or around 12/11 and 12/16, or visit the Campus Bookstore in-person ASAP for assistance.
2)  If you responded to the 12/16 email and indicated that you would pick up your books at the bookstore, please do so ASAP.
3)  If you’ve decided to purchase your course materials on your own (or if you had no materials required for any courses), you can opt out of the First Day Complete program HERE.  The opt-out window will only remain open through 1/23. (Important – Inaction does not lead to automatic opt-out.  It is a manual process that the student must perform before the deadline passes.)
4)  If you opted out and have changed your mind, you can still re-enroll in First Day Complete (until 1/23).  Check for instructions in the confirmation email you received upon opt-out, or visit the Bookstore in-person for assistance.
