As your student prepares for Thanksgiving and winter breaks, we want to share some common inspection issues that Residential Life will be checking to ensure rooms are left safe and secure. Encourage your student to:
- Clean Up: All food should be removed or properly stored to avoid attracting pests.
- Close Windows: All windows should be closed to prevent potential weather-related damage.
- Prepare Mini-Fridges (Winter Break): Unplug and fully defrost mini-fridges before leaving for winter break.
- Remove Prohibited Items: Fire hazards, including curtains, candles, string lights, and small appliances like air fryers, are against policy and will be checked during inspections. For more information on prohibited items please review the OWU Student Handbook.
These guidelines will help ensure your student’s room is in good order and compliant with Residential Life policies when they return from break
