Grant Awarded to Support Leaders Across Borders Program

OWU was recently awarded a continuation grant of $60,000 from the Great Lakes College Association (GLCA) to support Leaders Across Boarders, an international cross-cultural leadership training program. Under the direction of Darrell Albon and Lisa Ho, director and associate director of International & Off-Campus Programs, Wesleyan students, students from each GLCA school, and students from six international universities will attend monthly virtual meetings and trainings to develop cross-cultural communication competency, peer leadership, and conflict mediation skills. The program culminates with a five-day leadership summit for all participants in the spring of 2025 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, at the Corymeela Center. The Corymeela Center, on the campus of Queen’s University, was founded in 1965 with the goal of aiding individuals and communities which suffered violence and polarization during the Northern Irish conflict. Currently, Corymeela is recognized as the international leader in facilitating dialogue across differences. The 2025 summit will be the third year of this dynamic and successful program led by Ohio Wesleyan. Wesleyan students interested in applying to the competitive selection process for the Leader Across Borders program should contact Lisa Ho at leho@owu.edu.
