We have recently been informed of an alarming trend that has seemingly developed over the past several months, where students (or their parents) have reported that not all mail sent to students is being received.
We are reviewing our internal processes to identify any vulnerabilities or gaps contributing to the problem. In the meantime, we recommend each student go to USPS.com and sign up for Informed Delivery. It’s a free service that will email you a daily scanned image of the front of any standard-sized piece of mail that you should be receiving soon.
These scanned images are generated at the Columbus sorting facility, so subscribing to this service will help identify where process gaps may exist that could contribute to lost mail.
It should also be noted that the Delaware Postmaster has informed us that backlogs in the Indiana sorting facility contribute to significant delays in some mail routed through Columbus. Reportedly, some mail has been delayed for several months!
If you continue to experience lost or delayed mail, have your student contact us. The more data we gather, the clearer the solution will become.
