JK Eddy Memorial Lecture, March 25, 4:30pm, Benes Room, HWCC

The East Asian Studies Program, the International Studies Program, and the Department of Politics & Government would like to invite you to the John Kennard Eddy Memorial Lecture on Wednesday, March 25th, 2026, at 4:30 pm in the Benes Room at Hamilton Williams Campus Center, 40 Rowland Ave, Delaware, Ohio 43015. The lecture will feature Dr. Jeffrey Ding of George Washington University presenting “Technology and the Rise and Fall of Great Powers: Implications for the US-China AI Race.” His research agenda centers on emerging technologies and international politics, including how technological revolutions affect the rise and fall of great powers. The John Kennard Eddy Memorial Lecture on World Politics is a living memorial to a former student. Along with two of his classmates and friends, John Kennard “Jeff” Eddy was killed by a reckless driver while attending a Russian Studies Seminar at Oberlin College on September 23, 1988. At the time of their premature deaths, Jeff and his colleagues (Bill Kroener and Jay Riesz) were juniors majoring in politics and government at Ohio Wesleyan. The Eddy family has chosen this very valuable and important method of keeping Jeff’s flame alive across the generations of Ohio Wesleyan students. Ohio Wesleyan’s annual Eddy Lecture is supported by the International Studies Program and East Asian Studies Program under the Politics & Government umbrella. Learn more about the lecture series.
