Dear OWU Families, as your student continues their journey at Ohio Wesleyan, it’s a good time to become familiar with a federal law called the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). This law protects the privacy of your student’s educational records. Once a student enrolls at a university, the rights previously held by parents transfer to the student, regardless of age. This means that we cannot share details about your student’s grades, academic standing, or financial information without their explicit consent. We understand you may want to stay informed about your student’s progress. OWU provides a way for students to grant you access to their records. Your student can visit the Office of the Registrar’s FERPA page for instructions on how to authorize the release of their information to you. Thank you for your partnership in your student’s success!
