Dear OWU Families, We want to make you aware of an important academic deadline: the last day for students to Withdraw from a full-semester course is Tuesday, October 28, 2025. If your student is struggling in a class, a withdrawal may be an option. This is a significant decision and not one to take lightly. It’s for situations where passing the course is no longer realistic. Before your student considers withdrawing, please encourage them to:
- Talk to their professor. A conversation during office hours can often clarify whether it’s possible to get back on track.
- Utilize campus resources. The Sagan Academic Resource Center offers free tutoring and coaching that can make a big difference.
A withdrawal places a “W” on the student’s transcript but doesn’t affect their GPA. However, it’s important to remember that a withdrawn course does not count toward graduation units, which could impact their academic progress.
