Grant Awarded for Library Partnership to Enhance Student Research Resources

Professor John Krygier and Professor Chris Fink were awarded a Great Lakes College Association (GLCA) grant in collaboration with Ohio Wesleyan’s library staff and Delaware Hayes High School. The initiative began when Sarah Ressler Wright ’99, Hayes librarian, approached OWU after identifying that junior AP students lacked access to the robust databases and research resources needed for their advanced placement projects. Grant funds will support:

  • Hayes students’ campus visits for librarian-led research sessions
  • Purchase of 25 Chromebooks and related maintenance equipment
  • Development of adapted OWU open access learning modules

This collaboration builds on established community partnerships to develop information-literate citizens prepared for life beyond high school while helping students meet current learning standards. When not being used for this project, the Chromebook devices and transport cart can be used as point-of-need resources campus-wide. With this GLCA funding, OWU demonstrates its abiding commitment to the transmission, extension, and discovery of knowledge for OWU students and the greater Delaware community. The university has as its preeminent purpose to be a quality institution for teaching and learning and is excited to expand its collaboration with surrounding high schools following the pilot year of this project.
