The Sagan ARC staff works collaboratively to help students reach their academic goals by empowering them with the skills they need to be independent and lifelong learners—both inside and outside the classroom. Our office houses the Academic Skills Center (ASC), the Accessibility Services Office (ASO), the Quantitative Skills Center (Q-Center), the Writing Center, and Departmental Peer Tutoring.
The Academic Skills Center (ASC) provides one-on-one, confidential academic counseling that aims to improve study skills, time management, note-taking skills, test taking, and finals preparation.
The Accessibility Services Office (ASO) promotes access and opportunities for students with (learning) disabilities, including review of documentation, reasonable accommodations, educational counseling, consultation with faculty etc. ASO also provides temporary disability support for short-term injuries or conditions.
The Quantitative Skills Center provides an inclusive academic space for students of all skills and mathematical backgrounds. We assist students in MATH classes, such as MATH 105, MATH 110, MATH 111, and MATH 230, as well as other courses with a quantitative component, such as ASTR 111, CHEM 110, CHEM 111, and ECON 110.
Peer and professional Writing Center consultants work with all OWU students on any kind of writing from any class, at every step of the writing process—from generating ideas to revising and polishing drafts. They also work with students on written application materials for jobs, internships, graduate and professional schools, and OWU opportunities such as off-campus study, Student Individualized Projects, or Theory-to-Practice Grants.
Finally, peer tutoring services are offered for many courses at OWU. Our peer tutors are often majoring in the department for which they tutor, and they come recommended by their professors and Department Chairs.
