All OWU students are required to have health insurance to ensure that they have access to healthcare when they need it. Students are enrolled in coverage through Wellfleet Insurance, and a fee is posted to their student account. For students who already have other comparable health insurance, however, a waiver of the Wellfleet coverage and fee can be requested through our insurance partner, Academic HealthPlans. Other coverage is considered to be comparable if it is comprehensive, ACA compliant, and provides access to providers in the central Ohio area. A request for a fee waiver can only be submitted after the fee has been posted in November. Students should monitor their OWU email for a response to their request.
