Important information for students seeking a campus parking permit and how to sign up for the OWU Alert system.
Parking Permits
Parking permits are now available for purchase and information about parking rules and how to buy the permit can be found on Public Safety’s parking website. A few important considerations:
- We strongly encourage all students to take a few minutes to read the parking policies website. It covers where it’s OK to park, how parking changes during off-peak hours, and what to do if you do receive a ticket.
- A short grace period for obtaining and displaying your permit will be in effect until August 23rd.
- The grace period does not cover parking violations in accessibility (handicap) spaces, parking on the grass, fire lanes, or egregious behaviors.
- OWU enjoys a very low crime rate, but we’re still in a small city. Students bringing cars to campus should practice good habits, never leave items of value visible in the vehicle, and lock/secure the vehicle when not in use.
- Remember to place your permit in the lower left corner of your rear windshield (as you’re outside looking at the back of your vehicle.)
OWU Alert – Emergency Notification System
The OWU Alert system remains our primary method for communicating information during critical incidents.
- Students are automatically enrolled in OWU Alert – If OWU doesn’t have a student’s current cell phone number, update the record now by contacting the Office of the Registrar at 740-368-3200 or registrar@owu.edu using your OWU email address.
- Parents and guardians, please visit our OWU Alert page for more information on how the system works and instructions on how to sign up.
- Head to owu.edu/emergency for an RSS feed during critical incidents. Information is loaded directly from sent OWU Alerts and is an alternative to signing up for the text/phone alert service.
