Darkness. Darkness everywhere. It has no end, and no beginning. The silence is deafening.
But then it can be heard.
Yes, the faint sounds of someone breathing-not particularly hard, mind you, but the tiny whoosh of air is enough to cut through the blackness of the void. The owner of this breath is floating through the air, eyes flickering as though waking up from a strange dream.
They look around, dazed. Seemingly with no clue where they are.
"Hello?" They call out.
There is no answer, of course. They shake their head like it might shake free their mind. Many people don't realize how terrifying it is to not know-and this person is no exception. It was almost laughably easy to read their every expression:
Confusion.
Thinking.
Deeper confusion.
Fear.
"Let me out! LET ME OUT!" They begin to scream, and the noise seems to jolt something in the void surrounding them.
Like the thread of fabric growing thin and worn, spots in the darkness begin to shift.
They were like small tears in the universe, and the confused individual attempts to move toward the three rips.
Surely they had no idea where these holes lead to, but still they grasped and clawed toward the faint lights shining through the thick black veil.
As they got closer, they stopped. There were three holes.
One white
One red
One blue
No other information to suggest what lay beyond, no sounds, no smells, no faint breaths of air to guide the choice. It was pure guesswork.
They move towards the [[white light]] and are swallowed up by its brilliance.
They shoot for the [[blue light]], too quickly to change their mind.
They drift into the [[red light]] and disappear completely.I open my eyes to find myself in a warm room lit by firelight. I was warm, and more interestingly, I was quite comfortable.
As I awake from a deep slumber, I notice that I’m in a strange house with an even stranger old woman looking after me and caring for me. She wasn’t startled by the fact that I woke up or anything of that nature. I noticed that there was a strange mirror that had many different things going.
I [[walk towards the mirror]]
I don't know what drove me here, perhaps it was a simple matter of desperation? After I went through the white-lit rip in that awful void, I found myself lying on a cold, hard surface. That was the first thing I noticed. The cold. It bit into my fingers and snapped at my nose, although how I even knew that I couldn't say.
I knew I should have a name, but couldn't remember. I knew that memories existed, and yet all there was was black-like the void I had just clamored out of. I knew how to breathe, how to think; I knew my arm was pushing me into a sitting position, and that my feet were now touching the ground, but where these words came from I did not know.
I look around me. The room is large, and empty except for tables like the metal one I had found myself lying upon.
I went to examine the five or so other tables in the echoing chamber, white fluorescent lights blaring down from a far away ceiling.
Small plates with carvings were attached to each table, and I realized they were words. More than that, they were names.
Alex.
Max.
Isla.
I looked at my own table, and sure enough a name was printed in bold letters:
Lux.
My name, apparently.
Upon further inspection, a door is hidden in the smooth white panels of the room, and yet unease fills me.
I can't decide-
Should I [[leave the room]] or [[stay]] in the hopes someone will find me?
I sat up, confused. It was still dark, but not the same dark as the void. I search for the word--nighttime. Thousands of stars cover the sky, and the moon gives off a faint light allowing me to take in my surroundings. There was sand under my fingers.
A beach.
I hear waves crashing to my right, while the droning of cicadas comes from the left.
I knew that I should know more about myself. People had names, after all. I had to have a name.
Still somewhat dazed, I stand up.
I [[walk along the beach]]
I make my way towards the [[woods]] on my leftI can't stand the restlessness anymore. I make my way towards the door and place my palm against it. To my surprise, it slides open immediately, and a young woman with a clipboard is standing on the other side, alarmed.
"What? I mean, Captain! You're awake!"
I stare at her, confused. She takes my silence as an opportunity to keep talking.
"This is wonderful, I mean, I was just...just coming to check on your...progress..."
It was obvious that she was lying, or at least covering something up. She was scared for sure. I contemplate my options.
I could [[pretend]] to be the captain, and get to the bottom of her lying
Or, I could [[be honest]] and explain my lack of memories.
I decide to look around some more. The room gave little in terms of explaining what it was there for, or why I was there.
Under the platform I had been lying on was a small shelf, with only three things on it:
A silver pocketwatch, a pin with some sort of insignia on it, and a small knife.
I [[take the items]], assuming they belong to me. If nothing else, the knife could be helpful.
I [[don't take the items]], as something about them seemed a little off.
I decide to take a walk and see what I can find. Soon I discover an old chest with three items in it. A silver pocketwatch, a pin with some sort of insignia on it, and a small knife.
I [[take the items]], assuming they belong to me. If nothing else, the knife could be helpful.
I [[don't take the items]], as something about them seemed a little off.
I make my way into the woods. I find a path and follow it. I step on a wire and a trap goes off. I am killed instantly.
GAME OVERShe stares me up and down

[[Attack]]She stares at me, bewildered when I explain that I can't remember anything.
"How can a person not remember their own name?"
I shrug my shoulders, unsure myself.
"We will just have to give you a name then. How about..." Her eyes wander the room, before settling on a book lying on the table next to the bed.
"Lux! A fine name for one such as you."
I wasn't so sure about that, but it was clear she was trying to help, so I went along with it.
"Thank you for your help, but I don't want to overstay my welcome."
She shakes her head, smiling.
"It's no trouble, you can stay as long as you like"
I thought through my options once again. If I stayed, I would probably be safe and taken care of, but would I ever find out why my memories were gone?
I [[stay in the cabin]], taking the old woman up on her offer.
I decide to [[leave]], looking for answers.
I place all three items in my hand examining them more closely. I [[open the pocketwatch]] and all of a sudden I get an adrenaline rush and my mind goes blank for a moment. Then I see myself with a young woman in the same room that I’m standing in right now, except it’s not in this exact moment. This looks like a flashback of my life, but I don’t understand how I’m able to see this. I glance down at the pocket watch and it reads a quarter past twelve. When I first opened the pocket watch it read half past 5. I decide to wind the clock forward and again, this feeling of adrenaline and then a moment of nothing. I look down and I’m holding all three items again with no image of a flashback. This doesn’t seem normal to me but then again nothing has been normal.
The door opens, and I quickly turn around. A young woman stands at the entrance of a door I hadn't seen, clutching a clipboard and pen. She seemed startled.
"Cap-Captain! You're...awake?"
I must decide which way to continue.
I [[pretend]], and stand up, acting as though I knew what I was doing there, and who this captain was.
I [[be honest]], and go to explaining that I don't know what she's talking about.
You chose to stay in the cabin. I begin to hear lots of loud noises. It sounds almost as if someone is screaming.
"HELP! HELP! THERE'S A FIRE"
You look out the cabin's single porthole and see a big crate engulfed in flames.
Now you hear the sounds of explosions but cannot figure out where they are.
I [[leave the cabin]] to inspect

GAME OVERI attempt to go after my attacker but I am shot down
GAME OVER I [[examine the pin]] next, trying to smear the dirt off it. The pin has two wings attached to a pirate ship. As I look around the beach, I notice something in the distance.
Curious, [[I make my way towards it]], not letting the hot sand beneath my feet stop me. What seems like eternity, I finally arrive at the sight. It’s the same exact pirate ship that is on the pin. Not wanting to lose the pin, I place it on the cloth fabric that has been dangling on me. All of a sudden i’m jolted into the air. My arms have expanded twice as long, except they’re not my arms, they’ve become wings and I have feathers all over my body. I’ve become the bird that was on the pin. I fly around for an hour trying to wrap my head around what happened when suddenly I drop out of the sky, hitting the water below me.
[[avoid the going towards the unknown object]] I stay put and continue looking at what I have leftKnowing that once I put the pin on, I become a large bird for about an hour, I must figure out what kind of magic the knife holds. As I’m holding and playing around with the knife, nothing happens. I hold on to it and try again later. Out of anger I [[throw it into the water]].
I decide to [[open the pocket watch]] again. I set the time to 1:30 to see another flashback. I’m with the same woman again, but this time I’m on the ship in the captain's den. “Here’s your pin sir” the woman says. As I'm watching what’s happening, I can't believe what I see next. I appear to be taking the pin “i’ll be back in an hour, you know the drill, but I will fly to Europe and Asia and destroy what's left of it and I’ll be back for the next meeting.”
Confusion takes over me and I close the pocket watch. I still don’t recall my memories, but from what I witnessed, I turn into a firebird and destroy almost all of humanity. I run to the captain's dens and shuffle some papers around trying to find the map that I was using to make note of what continents I have destroyed. I find it and spread it across my desk. There are still 3 more continents I have not destroyed. I [[put the pin on to go back to the continents I have destroyed and try to rebuild what still remains]] I go to the continents, but it is too late and I can’t salvage anything.

GAME OVERI am now the ruler of the world
THE ENDBy walking towards the mirror the old woman stands and walks towards with valuable information on the current. She told me this mirror holds key points of my memory and that I need to find these memories again in order to defeat them.
I decided to [[ask who they are]]The old woman told me that it would be dangerous to speak of their existence in my current state of power. They travel to those who speak of them in all forms of communication.
For now, she said, we must find my memories to reclaim my lost strength.
I [[agree to find my memories]]
The old woman and I head out and find the world is broken. Natural disasters have killed most of Europe, Asia, and some parts of Africa. The United Nations is no longer an organization. Civil Wars have broken out in Australia, and Antarctica no longer exists. The mirror was broken in 12 shards and luckily the old woman found 10 of them. However, the last two were guarded in two different locations; the Pentagon and NASA HQ.
I decide to [[go to Pentagon]]
I decide to [[go to NASA HQ]]
I decide to [[see how to get current memories back]]
Going here, I don’t know how to get it the right way and I find myself surround [[and I Run]]

The old woman tells me in order to get these current memory shards she has back into my brain I have to be stabbed with them, one-by-one, and experience the memories x15 the speed of light.
She explains the by doing this I am risking my life because my brain can be overloaded and I could die
I [[go ahead with the plan]]
I lay down on my back and get stabbed by the first one. It was a rush in my head and it was painful, yet I managed to push on. After all 10 were down. I began to throw up as to how much information was processed into my brain.
With this new knowledge I realized that I have to [[go to the swamp of Baba Yaga]]
By going to the swamp, Baba Yaga informs me that the world has been taken over by the “them” and that those last two memories of mine are false ones. A trap for me to get killed. However, she informs me that the real location of “them” is in the Bermuda Triangle.
I decided to [[travel to the Bermuda Triangle]]
I decided to [[not travel to the Bermuda Triangle]]
I [[refuse the plan]]On our way there, I started remembering how I got to where I was. There was a machine that would alter the weather patterns of the planet and cause mass destruction to the world, bring the downfall of super power countries and enslavement to the people that couldn’t defend themselves. I also realize that the group of people that made this machine were pirates that time traveled from the future and I also realized the one way to save the world is by destroying the machine. We reached the Triangle and were met with gunfire.
I [[search my memories on how to get through this]]
By searching my memories, I realized I can stop time for 30 seconds and so I did and ran into the control room. In the control I found the head pirate and he came at us with full force. We battle and he grabbed the old woman and started a self destruct sequence that would take out the whole universe
He told me that I could save the universe and let her die and kill him in the process or save her and doom the universe.
At that same moment, all my memories activated at once and I realized…I was a super power individual who had a daughter and this old woman standing in front of me was my daughter by aged
I decided to [[save my daughter]]
I decided to [[save the universe]]
By saving my daughter I doom the universe and everything around us started to collapse on itself. As I look in my daughter's eyes I wondered was this the right thing to do
With the memory of me mastering energy beams, I blast straight through my daughter and the head Pirate. Narrowly missing my daughter’s heart but killing the head Pirate. I realized that this self destruct sequence can be reversed but so can what the Pirate’s did but only at one cost...my life. As I look back to see my dying daughter take her final breath, I [[used my memories of reality warping and time pause to reverse the pull of the machine]]
I [[winged it]]
By doing this...I reversed everything and I started to fade from the plain of existence. Knowing that my actions saved the world from a threat but also knowing, I will never have a daughter in the process.By winging it I get shot and so does the old woman. We bleed out to death
