Bashford Lounge Construction

The former cafe space attached to Bashford Lounge will be under construction through Winter Break, but Bashford Lounge is still available for 24/7 access while the work is in progress.

All night access to the Bashford Lounge will be available until Friday, December 21st.

The lounge will be unavailable when the University is closed, December 22nd through January 1st.

After-hours access for the lounge area will resume when classes begin on Wednesday, January 16th.

Please contact us if you have any questions!

New! Safari O’Reilly Ebooks and More

Starting on Wednesday, October 10th, Safari Ebooks is now Safari O’Reilly. And it includes more than just ebooks! You now also have access to access to video tutorials and self-guided courses on business, programming, and information technology.

Accessing Safari O’Reilly is a little different too. Below is what you’ll see when you find a Safari O’Reilly title in the catalog and click to access.

Find a Safari title in CONSORT, here:

Or in Summon here:

Click on link: “Full text online” or “Connect to…”

If it’s your first use, you will be asked for your email address.

Safari will recognize your email.

Then you will be asked for your OWU account login.

And then you will access your resource:

Subsequent use on campus will result in this message when you click on a Safari link:

You may then be asked for your OWU login if you haven’t already logged in to access other resources.

Off-Campus Access

When not on campus or the OWU network you will be asked for your email and OWU login, just as you were when you first accessed Safari on campus.

Safari Emails

After your first time logging into Safari, you will receive an email from them. It will tell you more about their content and the mobile app. You can opt out of these emails:

Change in Library Resource Access

As previously announced, this summer the Libraries changed the system used to provide access to our electronic resources.  All users (whether on campus or remote) will now be asked to log in with their OWU credentials (same as OWU email). Users should only be prompted to log in once as long as they remain in the same browser.

Please note:

  • This will impact any saved links users may have, including those in Blackboard. Saved links and bookmarks will need updating but the old links should still be functional for awhile.

  • This change will not affect the catalogs, so users will still be asked to enter their name and barcode when requesting materials from CONSORT or OhioLINK.

  • This is a change all CONSORT schools made to ensure better access to library resources moving forward.

New at the Libraries: Meditation and Reflection Space

New this semester, the Libraries will offer a Meditation & Reflection Space on the Third floor of Beeghly!

A pilot project based upon student suggestions and driven by a collaboration between the Chaplain’s Office and OWU Libraries, this neutral space is open to all at Ohio Wesleyan. It is a quiet place to reflect, meditate, pray, or just enjoy a few peaceful moments to unplug and melt away stress. We encourage visitors to view the guidelines of the space before use.

Library Website and Guide Changes

We have made some changes to our website and guides this summer with the intent of making resource finding easier and more intuitive, especially for first time users. Below is a summary of the changes.

The Find Databases links (under the default search box on the home page) have been removed. The Find Journal Titles link (above the search box) has now become Find Articles & Databases. Clicking on this new link users will see three options:

  1. Get Started – Links to Academic Search Complete and Credo Reference
  2. Dig Deeper – Links to finding databases by title (A-Z list) and subject
  3. Find Journals – The same search for finding a journal by title, just relocated

Our librarian-created guides for courses, subject resources, and other topics have undergone a reorganization. Instead of defaulting to a list of all guides, users will default to a list of guides organized by Subject with options to browse guides by type, librarian, or title (all guides). We have also instituted a naming convention to help better identify course guides. All course guides will now begin with the course code/number followed by course title.

Should you have questions or need help navigating these changes, please reach out to your liaison librarian or contact us at
