New this semester, the Libraries will offer a Meditation & Reflection Space on the Third floor of Beeghly!
A pilot project based upon student suggestions and driven by a collaboration between the Chaplain’s Office and OWU Libraries, this neutral space is open to all at Ohio Wesleyan. It is a quiet place to reflect, meditate, pray, or just enjoy a few peaceful moments to unplug and melt away stress. We encourage visitors to view the guidelines of the space before use.

Over the summer, the Five Colleges of Ohio applied for and received an extension to the Digital Scholarship Grant (named Digital Collections: from Projects to Pedagogy and Scholarship), first awarded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in 2013. The grant will now support our activities in the name of fostering digital scholarship across all five campuses through June of 2019. During this extended grant period, we are excited to both initiate and sustain faculty projects, create viable conduits through which these projects can be realized and promoted, and expand opportunities for faculty and staff development.
Towards this last objective, the Five Colleges of Ohio Digital Collaborations Group is leading an Omeka workshop that is open to faculty from all five colleges on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 10am – 2pm. It will be held on campus at Ohio Wesleyan in the R.W. Corns Building, Room 303. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Omeka, an open source web publishing platform, has grown in popularity as a resource for engaging students in curating online exhibits, developing digital literacies, and practicing scholarly communication. We will open the event with a discussion of the Mellon grant extension details. The workshop will focus on the use of Omeka for class-centered digital projects, but we will also present a general introduction on using it to create online exhibits. During lunch, experiences working with Omeka will be discussed. If you are a previous Ohio 5 Omeka Faculty Workshop attendee, please note that this workshop is very similar to those given at Wooster, Denison, and Kenyon in the past. Due to space limitations, registration will be capped at 35 participants and priority will be given to new attendees.
Lunch, mileage reimbursement, and a $100 stipend will be provided to those attending the workshop.
