It is bursting with horror, gore and emotion. The film follows Pearl, a young woman brought up on a solitary farm who strains under the pressures of caring for her immobilized father, beneath the scrutinizing eye of her demanding mother. Pearl mentally breaks down from her frustration with feeling trapped and from her loneliness as her husband is fighting in the war. She seeks comfort in fantasies of becoming a movie star and chorus girl, beloved and admired by the whole world. And she is willing to dispatch anyone who gets in the way of her dream. This film opens as if you were watching a film from the 1930s. Pearl is like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz if Dorothy lost her mind. After seeing this film you will never look at farms the same way again.

2) Knives Out (2019)

Deviant Art.

Less frightening than funny, Knives Out (2019) is a comedic mystery thriller film directed by Rian Johnson, and is set in modern times. The film follows Detective Benoit Blanc as he investigates the mysterious suicide of crime novelist Harlan Thrombey on the night of his birthday. Blanc, with the aid of the family’s nurse Marta Cabrera, act quickly to find out if Harlan Thrombey’s suicide was really a suicide or the result of foul play. Despite being a thriller about a macabre death, this film includes witty humor, timely commentary on the political climate of America, and is a great film to watch in the fall because of the oddly cozy, old-fashioned fall aesthetic of the set dressing, props, and the wardrobe of the characters.

3) Devil All the Time (2020)

Wikipedia Bahasa Indonesia.

Devil All the Time (2020) is a horror crime film directed by Antonio Campos, and is based on a 2011 novel by Donald Ray Pollock. The film takes place across various locations in West Virginia and Ohio, and follows a young man named Arvin Russel, and the wicked and sinister events that his family has been involved in. These sinister occurrences further lead Russel to set off on his own to meet and confront some evil people as he strives to protect and avenge the people he loves. This film explores extremely disturbing issues such as, rape, corruption of pastors in the church and police officers, insanity, and murder. This movie is a very difficult watch, but it is still gripping and effectively illustrates the determination of a good man faced with great obstacles in life, and how good can prevail over evil.

Looking for some good thriller movies to watch this Halloween?
