So it\u2019s always hard to say what my favorite book was, except I still remember the book that really stood out and resonated with little thirteen- or fourteen-year-old me. It was A song for Arbonne. This book was kind of my first encounter with the way fiction doesn&#8217;t have to stick with or stay within these very rigid genre guidelines. It was kind of where I realized&#8211;like, you know how you always grow up hearing people tell you \u201cWrite what you know\u201d? Well, I loved writing even when I was very young, and A Song for Arbonne was when I learned that you shouldn\u2019t always write what you know. You should write about what you\u2019re passionate about, what really drives you, even at times where it seems like it doesn&#8217;t fit.
