(Books will be available for purchase from the OWU Bookstore at the reading.)<\/p>\n<p>Carlisle, a retired English professor at Virginia Tech, previously delivered OWU\u2019s annual Vogel Lecture, discussing his experience in \u201cold\u201d Delaware.\u201d That material, including information about Ohio Wesleyan, is featured in his book along with a chapter on \u201cnew Delaware.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to his publishers, Carlisle\u2019s book \u201cexplores the ways the primary places in our lives shape the individuals we become. It proposes that place is a complex and dynamic phenomenon. Place refers to geographical and constructed places \u2013 location, topography, landscape, and buildings. It also refers to the psychological, social, and cultural influences at work at a given location.
